Brechin Elementary: Food Program

Brechin Elementary: Food Program

Completed

Brechin Elementary School, situated in central Nanaimo in an area of economically challenged families, has asked The Vancouver Sun’s Adopt-a-School program for $5,000 to support the school’s food program and a further $1,000 to provide winter clothing to students in need.

With a population of 196 students, it is estimated that 30 per cent of the families whose children attend Brechin are living below the poverty line.

The food program will provide students in need with healthy breakfasts, lunches and snacks daily so that they can concentrate and learn.
