You’ve heard it many times: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  And nowhere is that more evident than at Alexander elementary school in Duncan, where the school kitchen has become a focal point, where one full-time cook works with volunteers, teachers and educational assistants to serve 250 students a hot breakfast and lunch every day. For many of these children, these meals are often the only nutritious food they receive all day, and those meals have made a huge difference in their learning capabilities. Alexander elementary is asking Adopt-a-School for a grant of $4,000, which will be used to purchase fresh food and staples to continue the school’s tradition of no child going hungry.
