χpey̓ is the only Indigenous Choice school for the Vancouver School District. Families and caregivers send their children to be immersed and learn via aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing. Land based learning is a critical element of indigenous learning as well as providing a safe and caring environment for our students and their families with an emphasis on belonging, culture/community and mastery.

The school is seeking a grant of $16,000 from The Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund Adopt-a-School program to help stock their pantry with non-perishable food items, provide transportation for field trips, participation in an experiential canoe trip, and attendance at monthly indigenous performances such as drumming, singing and story-telling. These experiences are essential in maintaining the self-identity of the school’s indigenous students.
