2020 Pender Harbour Elementary – Secondary: Hot Breakfast/Lunch Program

2020 Pender Harbour Elementary – Secondary: Hot Breakfast/Lunch Program

Completed

Hot Breakfast/Lunch Program  $11,000

Our school relies on some excellent volunteer partnerships to provide tot breakfasts and lunches, and healthy snacks for students of our small rural school. Prior to this pandemic, vulnerable students would have access to many meals and the service was very well subscribed. My worry is that as more families are affected by job losses in our seasonal tourism based local economy, the need for these nutritious meals and snacks becomes even greater. In addition, when kids can’t have basic needs met (food and shelter) it interferes with their ability to learn.

We will be providing hot breakfasts, lunches and healthy snacks to all students through the grant funding. In addition, we would provide some food and clothing items, such as winter clothes and footwear, to support our most vulnerable students/families.
