2020 Lord Selkirk Elementary: Embracing, Adapting and Excelling

Completed

Embracing, Adapting and Excelling  $17,500

In a nutshell, our project proposal this year has to do with managing and adjusting to our new normal here at Selkirk. There are many things we have taken for granted in the past, that we are now having to figure out; including the various ways to help and teach our students. Due to Covid-19, the way classrooms are structured are quite different and the ways in which the students are learning has changed. Another element that poses new challenges is the choice that was given to parents to have their children learn online. There is a whole other learning aspect that we as educators are navigating through the best we can. We want to make sure our online learners are still connected to the school, while also receiving their education online. The goal of our project is to make learning as accessible and equitable as possible. We are finding that more students are having a challenging time focusing while at school (especially since being off for as many as 6 months), so having the tools to be able to help all our students with their education in this unique time would be a tremendous advantage for them.
