Many of the children attending Watson Elementary School in Chilliwack arrive for their day without eating breakfast, and without a proper lunch. Often, they have no lunch at all.
To help provide the proper nutrition for their students, the school has applied for a $3,000 Adopt-a-School grant to cover breakfast and/or lunch for up to 20 youngsters from kindergarten to grade 5.
Their request also covers the purchase of small kitchen items such as a blender and apple slicer, as well as clothing for those students most in need.
Supporting this program will not only give the students the best start for their day, but will result in a higher rate of attendance and class participation.
